Deadly Intentions by Lisa Harris - My Review

Romantic suspense and suspense are my favorite genres to read. So it won't be a surprise to you that I enjoyed Lisa Harris' new novel Deadly Intentions. This is a sequel to A Secret to Die For.

I thought Ms. Harris did an excellent job on the story and enjoyed it much more than the previous installment.

The suspense and romance are well developed and the pacing is fast. The hero and heroine both come into the relationship with baggage in the romance department. He is still grieving his wife and the heroine has abandonment issues.

But even with bad guys breathing down their necks and problems in their past the romance is believable.

Lisa Harris, as always, does an excellent job in the suspense department and keeps you guessing.

If you like fast paced romantic suspense then you will definitely enjoy Deadly Intentions.

Deadly Intentions is a 2019 release by Revell. It is available in paperback, hardback, ebook, and audio.

LIVING LIES BY NATALIE WALTERS MY REVIEW

Living Lies is Natalie Walters' debut novel. It's also incredibly unique. The heroine, Lane Kent, struggles with clinical depression. I honestly think this is the first Christian suspense novel I've read with a heroine with clinical depression. The book is realistic in the sense that it is addressed as a lifelong problem or illness that the heroine is forced to deal with. The disease is scary, hard on her family relationships, and makes her afraid she will never find romantic love.

I like the fact that she has the heroine make the conscious decision that she will live - one day at a time with God's help.

The hero, Charlie Lynch, was a well crafted/created character. His military background and friend with PTSD who committed suicide make him the perfect match for Lane. He truly understands and accepts Lane.

I liked the evolution of the relationship between Lane and her sister. Though I was disappointed in the rest of the heroine's family. Specifically her brother.

The suspense is well crafted and weaves in the heroine's depression seamlessly. On a whole the supporting characters added to the story. The suspense is excellent and keeps your interest throughout the entire book. I don't want to give any spoilers, but it is great.

I'm looking forward to additional books by this author. I did receive a copy of the book from the publisher, but this is strictly my opinion.

Living Lies is a 2019 release by Revell. It is available in paperback (336 pages), ebook, and audiobook.

JUSTICE DELIVERED BY PATRICIA BRADLEY MY REVIEW

I loved this book! Romantic Suspense is my favorite genre to read and I've read plenty of suspense novels, but this book is exceptional.

Justice Delivered is the fourth installment in Patricia Bradley's Memphis Cold Case Books.  I've read all four books in the series and would give each of them a five star rating. While part of a series the books can be read as stand alone titles.

Carly Smith, the heroine, was abducted as a teenager and forced into sex trafficking. After years of abuse she finally escaped, but she is terrified of being found by her abductors. One thing I appreciate is the way Ms. Bradley handled sex trafficking. She didn't water down the story or whitewash it. Nor did she go into unnecessary details. She handled the subject brilliantly. The best I've seen in any Christian fiction novel.

The story weaves the past and present together seamlessly resulting in the climax when Carly's niece is abducted by the same man who originally abducted her.

My one complaint is I did feel the romance had a rushed ending.

A must read for all fans of Christian romantic suspense novels. Definitely a five star novel!

Justice Delivered is 2019 release by Revell and is 362 pages long. It is available in paperback, hardback, Kindle, audiobook, and audio CD.

I received this book from the publisher, but the comments above are entirely my own.

DRIFTWOOD BAY BY IRENE HANNON MY REVIEW

Driftwood Bay is the fifth Hope Harbor Novel by Irene Hannon. I enjoyed the return visit to Hope Harbor. The latest installment in the series is interesting and a great read.

The book deals with losses that many of the characters have faced: Jeannette Mason, the heroine; Logan West, the hero; Molly, his five-year-old niece; and the refugee family from Syria. Ms. Hannon manages to weave the loss each person has dealt with into that of the other characters in a poignant manner.

The book does an excellent job of dealing with devastating loss, redemption, and second chances. If you are a fan of contemporary Christian romance then you won't want to miss this book.

My one complaint is that it was too many losses for too many characters. But I will still strongly recommend this series to readers.

Driftwood Bay is a 2019 release from Revell and is 339 pages. It is available in  paperback, hardback, Kindle, and audiobook.

I received this book from the publisher, but the comments written above are entirely my own.

Never Let Go by Elizabeth Goddard My Review

Never Let Go is the first book in the Uncommon Justice Series by Elizabeth Goddard. The heroine, Willow Anderson, has a unique profession that I’ve never read about before. She is a genealogist and uses her knowledge to find a woman’s daughter who was abducted at birth. The hero, Austin McKade, is a former FBI Agent.

Never Let Go is interesting and I love the author’s knowledge of Wyoming. I definitely want to go visit now! She did an excellent job with the conflict between the hero and heroine. It is definitely worth reading and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

My one complaint is I felt like the pacing was a little slow.

Never Let Go is a 2019 release by Revell and is 358 pages. It is available in paperback, hardback, ebook, and audio.

A Secret to Die For by Lisa Harris - My Review

Romantic suspense and suspense are my favorite genres to read. So it won't be a surprise to you that I enjoyed Lisa Harris' new novel A Secret to Die For. Chapter one had me racing through the story with the heroine, Grace Callahan. Ms. Harris definitely pulled me into the book on page one.

The suspense and romance are well developed and the pacing is fast. The hero and heroine both come into the relationship with baggage in the romance in the department. But even with bad guys breathing down their necks and problems in their past the romance is believable. I think that is largely due to their past college friendship. One nice twist (SOME MIGHT CONSIDER A SPOILER) is Nate, the hero, was a good friend of her ex-husbands in college. I found that to be an interesting twist!

Lisa Harris, as always, does an excellent job in the suspense department and keeps you guessing.

If you like fast paced romantic suspense then you will definitely enjoy A Secret to Die For.

A Secret to Die For is a 2018 release by Revell and is 314 pages. It is available in paperback, hardback, ebook, and audio.

A Christmas by the Sea by Melody Carlson - My Review

A Christmas by the Sea

by Melody Carlson

I love Christmas books and in particular I love Christmas books by Melody Carlson. Every year I look forward to her release, so it's no wonder I loved this book. I read A Christmas by the Sea in one day and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.

Ms. Carlson did a wonderful job with the setting. To begin with it made me want to visit Maine and by the time the book was finished I felt like I lived in the little cottage by the sea. The heroine is definitely one a modern woman can identify with. She's taken care of herself and her son since her husband's death. Wendy, the heroine, even worries about things like health insurance and it doesn't take away from the romance or the book. In fact, it adds realism to the story.  Her son, Jackson, is tech savvy - such a realistic thing for a teenager to be in today's world. I loved how he constantly looked up "how to" on YouTube. The hero, Caleb, is irresistible - just what every woman longs to meet. He respects Wendy's talents and love for her son. A Christmas by the Sea is a delightful holiday read and one I would highly recommend to any Christian Book Fanatic.
